Ban Phe has eight piers within about a kilometre of shore, and every boat to Koh Samet leaves from one of them. The taxi can take you to any pier, at the same price, so the only task is to pick the right one. This page shows how.

Why there are so many piers
Each ferry and speedboat operator has its own landing, and a few resorts on the island run their own boats from a pier of theirs. The piers stand close together along the sea front, with shops, snack stalls and ticket offices between them. A pier is a short walk from its neighbour, so a wrong choice costs a few minutes, not an afternoon.
The island ferry, the speedboats and the resort boats do not all leave from the same place, which is why the booking form asks you to pick a pier.
How to choose
Your ticket names the pier. If you have booked a resort on Koh Samet, ask it which pier its boat uses. If you have nothing booked, choose Nuantip Pier, which many travellers use, buy a ferry ticket at the counter and ask the staff which gate the boat leaves from.
In the order form the list of piers appears when Ban Phe is the start or the end of your trip. The driver stops at the one you pick.
The piers in order
The Municipality Pier is at the eastern end of the line, with a large car park across the road. West of it are Nuantip Pier, Tarua Phe Pier, Chok Krisda Pier, and, further along, Sri Ban Phe Pier. Ao Prao, Seree and Jadet are the names of other landings used by particular operators and resorts.

Ferry or speedboat
The ferry takes 30 to 40 minutes, runs daily from 08:00 to 18:00 and costs 70 THB per person one way or 120 THB return. A speedboat takes about 15 minutes and is priced per boat, 1,000 to 2,000 THB depending on the beach, so it makes sense for a group.
Tickets are sold at the pier and are not part of the taxi price. You pay the driver in cash, or by Visa, Mastercard, PayPal, transfer by QR code or bank transfer to a Thai account if you prefer.
